I was in Singapore for a few days, partly for inspiration, partly to explore new places that had been on my photography list for some time. Of course, my camera went with me, as Marina Bay was high on my wish list. It is already impressive during the day, but around sunset, this place really comes alive. The skyline, the iconic Marina Bay Sands hotel, the ArtScience Museum and the reflections in the water combine to form a visual spectacle that you, as a photographer, cannot ignore.
For this shot, I merged several images into a panorama so that I could capture the full width of the view. A picture-filling composition that focuses on the balance between architecture, water and light. I went back several times around sunset, that moment when the sky turns warm and the city lights slowly light up. It was a matter of the right timing, a stable setup and patience to capture the light perfectly.
As always, I edit my photos at home at my desk. There I have the peace and quiet and the right tools: a fast computer, large screen, Wacom drawing tablet and various software to perfect the image. For this photo, I worked on the contrast between the warm and cool tones, so that the image is not only technically correct, but also conveys the mood of the moment.
