The famous Martinitoren in Groningen city at night.
The first predecessor of the Martinitoren was built in the 13th century and was destroyed by a lightning strike
The successor was built in the 15th century and this tower too did not have a long life as it burned down due to another lightning strike. The current tower was built in the late 15th century. The Martinitoren is 96.8 metres high and can be visited.
