This painting is about events from everyday life at that time, 1998. The red background consists of eyes; for me, the symbol of communication.
A "layer of plaster" has gone over the background, which is actually a mortal sin, destroying other work at the expense of new work, but it is the necessity of this artwork. In one of the compartments , bottom left, is a gun with 2 shadowy figures on it; Frank and Polle Taminiau from Hilvarenbeek, the 2 boys who witnessed a drug-related execution in woods near their parental home near the Beekse Bergen in Hilvarenbeek, they themselves being liquidated on standing. This event had a huge impact on local people, but certainly also on me. I felt the need to document this in some way.
All other areas are about art and music texts including Henry Matisse and Pablo Picasso and the music of Prince.
The figure in front has a spray can and creates this detailed "piece" completely in styl of the time wearing an Adidas jacket.
It turned out to be an orthodox painting but it was meant to be, the moment chose this styling and I followed.
