Unusual in my collection Memories of Samurai, this one depicts a Samurai in white armour. Samurai were the officers and nobles of the Japanese army (from medieval times to towards the end of the nineteenth century) and they provided their own uniform - that is to say, they did not dress to match the colours of the army over which they presided. The armour was very detailed. The helmet or kabuto here has traditional water buffalo horns embedded in it.
