This modern, architectural photo was taken on 29 August 2025 during my day trip to the beautiful Andalusian city of Cádiz. The motif was exposed with the NIKON D800 camera (lens: NIKKOR). The glass construction gives the station concourse a soft, even light. The modern steel girders give the modern hall very clear, graphic lines and enchant the interior building in a wonderful symmetrical perspective.
The main railway station in Cádiz is the Estación de Cádiz station in the Plaza de Sevilla, close to the harbour, which serves as a central transfer point for long-distance, medium-distance and suburban trains (Cercanías) and plays an important role in local public transport.
The modern station was opened in 2002, is built in glass and steel and offers ticket counters and ticket machines as well as a cafeteria. It is the most populous railway gateway in the province of Cádiz and a hub for travelling within Andalusia and throughout Spain.
The station is located in the Plaza de Sevilla, just one kilometre north of the harbour entrance and can be reached on foot, by train, bus or taxi.
The modern station was inaugurated in 2002 and is characterised by its steel and glass construction.
It offers connections for long and medium distance trains as well as for local trains (Cercanías Cádiz), which connect the city with other important places in Andalusia.
