About ‘Modernization’ by Rob IJsselstein
After the not entirely comfortable climb of the Adventskerk, the reward was formed by free views over Alphen aan den Rijn in all four corners of the world. This picture gives an overview of the total renovation of the city centre on the Hoge Zijde. From this point of view a nice combination of round lines, and austere rectangular shapes.

Landscapes and townscapes are my favourite subjects. I search for beauty in the image; that can come from any of the compositional elements such as lines, shapes, rhythms, light/dark, colour combinations. For me a photograph is successful, when I can hang it on the wall and enjoy it for months without getting irritated about imperfections. My subjects are mostly outside, in nature or in the city.
