Morning mist at Mont Saint-Michel. Watercolour painting of a sunrise at Mont San-Michel where the cold sea mist 'also known as sea flare' covers the lower part of the island. Mont Sant-Michel is painted as a silhouette in this painting. Because of the sunrise, the sky is coloured ochre yellow. The foreground consists of arable land with a section of maize field and a wheat field with a strong perspective. Where the arable land ends is a row of trees along a farm road. On the left in the picture, you can see the roof of the farmhouse. The painting is copied from a home-made photo image with pencil, watercolour and ink applied with a crown pen. In terms of painting style, it is a mix of illustrative, realism and impressionism. I get to or near Mont Saint-Michel almost every year when I go on holiday in Normandy or towards Carnac in Brittany. Mont Saint-Michel is a small, rocky tidal island in France at the mouth of the Couesnon river. At the top of Mont Saint-Michel is a medieval abbey called Abbaye du Mont-Saint-Michel.
