Early in the morning, when the world is still asleep and the sky turns soft blue/orange above the rooftops, I get on my bike towards the Edese Heide. The fresh morning air fills my lungs as the first sunlight breaks through the trees. Birdsong accompanies me on my way - blackbirds, larks, maybe a robin - their clear sounds form a natural morning concert.
On the moor, a soft mist still hangs over the landscape like a veil. The light is golden and diffuse, perfect for taking panoramic photos. I stop regularly to capture this hushed moment - the moor in pastel shades, the trees emerging from the mist like shadows.
Then the search for wildlife begins: deer, roe deer, maybe a glimpse of a wild boar. I move silently and attentively, hoping for an encounter with these shy denizens of the moor. July mornings like this are precious - a combination of tranquillity, natural beauty and the feeling of being alone in the world for a while.
