The beach at Étretat is beautiful in its own special way, whatever the weather!
This morning was perfect for long exposures: the beach was still deserted, the sun was not visible... There was a light breeze, which made the clouds move slowly through the picture, the sea was relatively calm.
As a photograph in black and white, the image appears timeless, noble and the lack of colours draws the eye more to the structures in the clouds and to the coast. The soft and silky depiction of the water provides a counterpoint to this.
The picture was taken with one minute exposure time and is therefore the opposite of a quick snapshot with a smartphone!
