This work is a play of contrast and balance. Abstract, fluid shapes move freely across the surface, as if engaged in a dance with each other. Red, blue and yellow alternate, outlined or enhanced by the powerful black and bright white. The colours seem to clash and be in harmony at the same time, like voices in a lively conversation.
The inspiration for this work came from a need for playfulness and spontaneity. The work arose partly intuitively, as if the shapes sought a place for themselves on the canvas. It is an ode to primary colours, but also to the idea of freedom within limitation.
The atmosphere is dynamic and powerful, with a hint of nostalgia for 20th-century art. Yet it feels fresh and contemporary. There is rhythm to it, a visual flow that carries the viewer along, as if watching abstract music.
The work was made with acrylic paint on canvas. The colours were deliberately kept limited to create maximum impact within a bright palette.
In an interior, this work is a real eye-catcher. It fits well in modern, creative or eclectic spaces, bringing energy and playfulness into the home.
