The mushrooms in the foreground with the beautiful autumn colors in the background. I found the mushrooms on a tree stump (which has since been removed) in the Staelduinse bos in 's Gravenzande, Netherlands.
The trees and bushes in the background had already turned their leaves to yellow, red and brown which gives the beautiful autumn colors. The sun trying to get through gives it an extra yellow glow.
Once, Germanic people lived in these dunes on the edge of a huge swamp. Centuries later monks left from here to reclaim the land. Then this forest became an estate and the private domain of nobility and harbor barons. And now? Now everyone can enjoy walking here. The Staelduinse Bos is part of the National Park Holland Dunes.
Impressive: bunkers from the Second World War. Stroll between the men's houses of the German bunker village, but do not go inside. Much too dangerous! Moreover, you will disturb the current residents: bats.
