A moment full of life in the middle of the Namibian savannah: the curious red-billed hornbill, also known as tokotoko, sat down on a branch right in front of my accommodation and looked at me - almost as if he wanted to start a conversation. It wasn't the first time he had appeared. He kept coming round as if I had become part of his territory. He had obviously become accustomed to humans, perhaps even using our proximity as an opportunity for easy prey.
Its strikingly curved, bright red beak contrasted impressively with its black and white plumage - a typical feature of this bird species, which belongs to the hornbill family. The red-billed hornbill is common in Namibia, but each of these encounters is unique. It was as if two worlds met for a brief moment - that of the wild and my own.
The golden tones of the dry grass in the background make the scene look particularly warm. This photo is perfect for wall decorations in landscape format - especially in nature or Africa-inspired living concepts.
I have always enjoyed photography. Even when I was young, I took photos with the Beirette. It even happened to me once that I inserted a film twice ... and the photos I took were very interesting.
