The lighthouse on the seawall is also called Noorderhoofd. Or photo model, because it is one of the things in Westkapelle that gets photographed the most. The lighthouse is 16 meters high and has four floors. It has stood on the dike since 1874. This cast iron tower from 1875-1876 was designed by Quirinus Harder, who also designed many other Dutch lighthouses. The lighthouse was made by iron foundry Nering Bögel in Deventer. Together with the tall tower, the beacon forms a line of light to the Oostgat.
