About ‘Nyaungshwe Township: Shwe Yan Pyay Klooster’ by Maarten Verhees

Het Shwe Yan Pyay-klooster is een boeddhistisch kloostercomplex in Nyaung Shwe, ten noorden van Inle Lake in Myanmar. Het klooster werd gebouwd aan het einde van de 19e eeuw. Het hoofdgebouw is volledig gemaakt van teak en valt op door de ovale ramen. Jij bent het. a. gebruikt voor het onderwijzen van beginners. De muren in het aangrenzende wit geschilderde stenen gebouw zijn oorspronkelijk geschilderd en gedecoreerd met uitgebreide glasmozaïeken (sommige met omgekeerde glasschilderkunst), die niet goed bewaard zijn gebleven. Er zit in ongeveer 1700 kleine nissen ooit een kleine Gipsbuddha.
