We can see the brick church of St Nikolai in the background. It is the church of sailors and fishermen. I have transformed the photograph into a watercolour view, with an artist's eye. Wismar has been a UNESCO World Heritage city since 2022 and is the most important city in north-west Mecklenburg. Wismar's old town centre, which was built between the 13th and 16th centuries, has hardly changed. Three mighty sacred buildings characterise the face of the Hanseatic city on the Baltic Sea, the main churches of St. Nikolai, St. Georgen and the church tower of St. Marien. These and other buildings are outstanding examples of North German brick Gothic architecture. Visitors to Wismar experience this unique medieval architecture and modern, friendly people.
