Between the Veluwe villages of Putten and Nijkerk lies picturesque Oldenaller Castle, hidden in a sea of greenery. The present house, built in the 17th century and later adapted in classicist style, is the radiant centrepiece of a vast estate managed by Natuurmonumenten since 1976. With its sober elegance, stately symmetry and turret with bell tower, it exudes the calm and refinement of old Dutch country houses.
The photo shows the castle in full summer splendour: warm sunlight plays across the facade, while lush trees and flowering rhododendrons frame the water's surface. The reflection in the pond doubles the beauty of the scene and enhances the serene harmony between nature and architecture. Oldenaller is more than a historic building - it is a living landscape where culture and nature complement each other. Footpaths wind through woods and meadows, past old lanes and stately farmhouses. In this hushed setting, the castle remains a symbol of tranquillity, permanence and conservation, where the history of Gelderland's nobility and the rhythms of nature together form a timeless unity.
