All the delicious food in Japan originally comes from street food stalls in Osaka.
The city is known as 'the cuisine of Japan' and it is said by the Japanese themselves that food was invented here. On average, people in Osaka also spend more money on food than the rest of Japan.
Unfortunately, more and more street stalls are disappearing due to regulations. These have now moved indoors and become restaurants. Izakaya Toyo is still active, though, and anyone who has seen the episode of Streetfood Asia Osaka will recognise him. He has been passionately running his Izakaya on the street for 26 years. Osaka's well-known street food dishes are: TAKOYAKI, OKONOMIYAKI, KUSHIKATSU & UDON. So when you spend 24 hours in Osaka, a food tour is a must.
