A wide 3:1 panoramic image in Black and White of an early morning at Playa de Portizuelo, a natural heritage located in the municipality of Valdés, within the Vaqueira region of western Asturias, near the city of Luarca, Spain.
Known for its natural beauty, this semi-urban beach is characterised by its unique pebbles and quartzite rocks, which have been a source of inspiration for many artists. It is also adorned with beautiful cliffs and vibrant greenery, adding to its picturesque charm.
The geological features of the beach are particularly noteworthy, especially the white quartzites from the upper term of the Serie de los Cabos covered by the dark-tinted Pizarras de Luarca. These features are most visible at low tide, revealing unique rock formations such as the Severo Ochoa rock, named after the scientist who is said to have found inspiration here.
