Pasola is a game or contest in which men from 2 villages (often not far from each other) on horses play against each other by throwing sticks at each other (like spears but blunt). If the stick hits the opponent then the party to which the horse rider belongs scores a point. Emotions can run high between the 2 parties, as pride and status of the person in question (who is hit, such as the village chief) also comes into play.
