Detail of the clockwork that controls the Eise Eisinga Planetarium in Franeker. This mechanism is located under the original ceiling of the living room. An engineering feat, handmade from wood and wrought-iron nails between 1774 and 1781. Eise was helped in this by his father and brother.
The Planetarium is a working scale model of the solar system with the planets known at the time: Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn.
