Pheasants are native to Asia. In the Middle Ages, the Romans had already discovered that they were a delicious delicacy and dragged them along wherever they were stationed in Europe. Of course, one of them escaped from time to time, which resulted in a stable population of pheasants that is now an integral part of Dutch nature...
