The Noordma reclassification area in the province of Drenthe, near Zuidlaren is a special nature reserve. In Noordma, the Hunze flows from Drenthe to Groningen. Via Tusschenwater, the Hunze flows into the Zuidlaardermeer. It is part of a larger project to restore the Hunze valley. Reclamation has made the area wetter, creating a unique marsh landscape that is once again ideal for all kinds of plants and animals. The area also plays an important role in water storage. This photo shows a serene sunrise in the Noordma water storage and nature reserve in Zuidlaren in the province of Drenthe. A row of characteristic pollard willows stand in the mirror-smooth water, a result of the flooded land. Sunrise envelops the sky in soft pastel colours of pink and orange, which in turn reflect beautifully in the surface of the water, creating a dreamy atmosphere. Thin wisps of fog float low over the water, adding to a mystical atmosphere. The beautiful symmetry of the trees and their reflections gives a sense of tranquillity and harmony. It is an idyllic image that captures the early morning beauty and unique wetland nature of this area of Drenthe. Because of the long shutter speed, you can see some movement in the leaves of the trees and in the reeds in the water.
