This work was inspired by a Popart drawing from a 20-year-old magazine I once bought in America. I used the drawing as a basis, keeping the sharp lines of the Popart print as much as possible. I replaced the bright colours with appropriate western colours that better suit the design, such as browns, beiges and greens.
The work is abstract, but recognisably portrayed and largely made with oil paint. The emotion I have tried to portray is the intimate love between the horse and its rider, in this case a young girl. The relationship can be described as close and eternal friendship
