For this painting, I took an abstract but crude approach, depicting the young woman as both recognisable and artistic. The model is painted askew from behind, but her face is clearly visible from the side, creating an intriguing contrast between movement and calm.
The work was mainly done in oil paint with coarse brushstrokes and the palette knife, where I played with soft colour transitions and bold strokes to give depth and expression to the portrait. The colours used, including beige, ochre yellow, brown and a touch of green, enhance the dreamy nature of the painting.
