In winter, the Common Eider Duck is a frequent guest along the Norwegian coast, where they gather in groups to spend the cold months. The male, pictured here, is beautifully coloured with black and white feathers and a green neck, which is particularly striking against the icy landscape. The ducks dive for food such as mussels and other crustaceans, which enables them to brave the winter cold.
