"Quietly simple still life: The reflection of a Zeeland button"
This work is a macro photo of a beautiful white/cream (with a little bit of light pink ) flower of an Astrantia Major. In the Netherlands, this plant is also called "Zeeuws Knoopje". The flower consists, as you can see in the picture, of many "small flowers" which gives beautiful details in the picture.
For this photo, I placed this little flower on a special reflective material so that the flower can also be seen in the ground surface. But in a separate abstract version and upside down. If you zoom in on the photo, you can see the details of the photo nicely. You can then see that the focus is on the front flower and the further back you look, the fainter the flower becomes. I chose this depth of field to create a sense of calm and depth in the work.
Because there is a texture in the material, the reflection is refracted in random places, creating an abstract, painterly and dreamlike reflection.
The neutral, soft and light background colour gives this picture a soft and calm look.
A "Calm simple still life: The reflection of a Zeeland button" can hang beautifully on the wall of, for example, a waiting room, bedroom or just on the wall!
