Their sculptural appearance, the thick, branched crown and the cracked trunk make them a favourite subject for photographers from all over the world. They really come into their own at dawn or dusk, when the light transforms the landscape into a spectacular play of colours.
This picture was taken in the south of Namibia, in one of the most famous quiver tree forests near Keetmanshoop. The location is not only a hotspot for nature photography, but also a place of quiet beauty and bizarre shapes that only the desert can produce. Each tree looks like a living sculpture in an otherwise barren landscape.
