Rauðfeldsgjá is a deep, high and narrow ravine in the cliffs south of the Snæfellsjökull glacier with a dramatic story and family tragedy attached to its name. The location is near the small hamlet of Arnarstapi. Seen from the road, it looks like a small crack in the mountain that has shifted only slightly, enough for people to go in and observe. There is parking along the road and a five to ten minute walk to the entrance of the ravine. Rauðfeldsgjá is part of the road trip on the Snæfellsnes peninsula.
