About ‘Red bowed down tulip in soft light from above’ by Kees de Winter

The picture shows a red tulip that is no longer tightly budded, but whose sepals are still bent inward. The stem is bent down under the weight of the flower.

The tulip is in a vase with several tulips. This cannot be seen in the photo, but it is part of the story of how this picture came about. That story is characteristic of how my photographs're often created.

The vase of tulips had been in the living room for a few days and one morning it suddenly caught beautiful light. That invited me to start photographing the flowers. And while I was doing that, I was drawn more and more strongly to this one tulip that chose a different direction. This is something I often fall for as a photographer (or rather, as a person behind the photographer). I love the exceptions and the deviations. By then giving such'an exception in the photo a context all its own, a new story with its own "protagonist" is created. Thus, this image tells me something about the beauty of choosing your own path.

I was a pastor for more than twelve years. When I noticed within that position that my joy of discovery began to dry up, I started to shift my course. My language needed more imagery.

What are the delivery times?

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
