The secret life of plants. When the days are grey for too long, I go and buy myself a bunch of flowers. It’s through the camera that I really start to see and forget the misery outside. This image immediately grabbed me, in close-up the low-key lighting worked like a monumental dramatic claire obscure. The simplicity of colour, rich red and black, reinforced that. Lots of detail, but nothing to distracts from the large form.
