About "The Hidden Life of an Arum Calyx"

About the artwork

You can also make a portrait of a flower. The purple arum is related to the lily. Strong and vulnerable at the same time, Mysterious too, because of its colour and the cup formed from the stem by that one artfully folded leaf.

The picture was taken as part of one of my recurring themes: The Hidden Life of Plants. It fascinates me that flowers and plants live before our eyes while we barely notice them. By zooming in, by taking time and observing them, I discover time and again the little miracles that take place in a time period other than our own.

For me, the arum is an enigmatic, proud flower. Like a powerful loner, it looms out of the darkness here, the veins on the velvety exterior and the polished interior. I wanted to capture that in razor-sharp detail. I took the photo in the dark of night with only a tiny bit of flash, making the highlights glow subtly on top Gear: Sony A7iii, Voigtländer 40mm f13 - 1/250 sec; speedlight Godox v860iii

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers. Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
