It remained grey and rainy all day. Until about 5.30pm, it is very early spring, the sky breaks open, it gets brighter, some sun too. Not expected. I head out anyway to find a place of interest. The sun is good on the way, but clouds remain. Stopping somewhere along a canal, I see some possibilities. There are reddish semi-flowering stalks in beautiful golden light. With a very low vantage point, the camera just above the ground, I can get all these things in focus. The inflorescences are parts of a plant called Greater Hoofleaf, which likes to grow along the water's edge. As the temperature is higher the previous months, the stem and spikes are already emerging.
