This water meter stands in a polder ditch against a wooden sheet piling. It indicates the water level. The meter belongs to the Water Board. The level stands at 1.80, i.e. minus 1.80 metres in relation to NAP. So far below the zero level. It is a polder ditch in North Holland. The NAP level is the sea level, so this ditch is below it. The reflection in the water and the blurred coot in the background gives a nice quiet and rural atmosphere. The composition of the sloping wooden dam and the vertical gauge is very nice, adding to the tranquillity and atmosphere of the photo. The wooden dam wall allows two different water levels to be controlled and limits flow.
