In 1845, Simon Langendam, owner of a local print shop, started his own newspaper. With this, he stood up for the disadvantaged, Catholic, minority in the city. From 1848 onwards, this paper was named De Gelderlander. What started with 400 subscribers became 45,000 before the Second World War, and in 2001 the newspaper had 202,000 regular customers.
In mid-2009, the newspaper's printing on the former De Gelderlander site came to an end after 161 years. Two years later, in 2011, the building was demolished and construction began on part of the Waalfront, the Handelskade. The Handelskade is one of the new construction projects within the Waalfront. The photo was taken with Blue Hour and with a long shutter speed so you can see movement in the clouds. It is light enough outside for details, yet the lights are already on.
When I get home from the office I like to take my camera out after dinner to photograph the night. This can be a normal night picture, but also a lightpaint picture.
Typical for my photos is the use of color, light and the starburst effect.
