In the late 18th century, reindeer were brought to Iceland from Norway for farming. Not all of them survived; only 1 herd managed to hold out. You can find this herd in several places in the East Fjords. Whether you see them you never know in advance, but the chance is certainly there. I saw these walking along the road early in the morning. In total, there are about 3,000 of them.
