Leaving Sainte-Anne in Martinique in the morning, we set off for Soufrière in Saint Lucia. A beautiful sailing trip across the Caribbean Sea.
It is a relaxed sailing day. Sunshine, blue skies and calm seas make the crossing easy. As do the trade winds from the east, which allow us to leave the sails over starboard for almost the whole trip anyway. The wind is not too strong either and we are quite stable and straight on the water. A great day for legs overboard, cosy conversations and lunch with a boiled egg. We enjoy the calm conditions.
The other sailboat, with which we are heading together, is always slightly ahead of us. And even our most fanatical crew member has no desire to try to pass our neighbours.
Martinique and Saint Lucia are close together and soon we see Saint Lucia on the horizon. This way over the sea, we almost seem to be there, but it will take some time. We can still enjoy the wide view of the Caribbean Sea to the right and in front of us and the Atlantic Ocean to the left. Soon, soon we will be at the island and sailing along the coast we will reach Soufrière. But now we are here.
