The Ribeira (Riverbank) is the old quarter of the Portuguese city of Porto on the Douro River. Here many lakes port boats (Rabelo), which go to the located across town Vila Nova de Gaia.
The old town consists of many small alleys and streets, many of which are refurbished. In 1996 Ribeira added to the UNESCO World Heritage List.
In the background you can see the The Luis I Bridge (Portuguese: Ponte Dom Luís I) is a striking arched bridge that goes over the river Douro.
