Ubud is a town on the Indonesian island of Bali in Ubud District, situated among rice paddies and steep gorges in the main foothills of the Gianyar regency. Promoted as an arts and culture centre, it has actually developed a substantial tourist industry Ubud's population of about 113,000 people is overshadowed by the more than 3 million foreign travelers who visit each year. The area surrounding this city is made up of small farms, rice paddies, agroforestry plantations, and traveler lodgings. Since 2018, more travelers visited Ubud than the capital city Denpasar in southern Bali.
