Robins tend to be very curious and trusting. Against conspecifics, on the other hand, both male and female are very aggressive and they fiercely defend their territory in summer and winter. In doing so, they display the red breast feathers. Usually, robins make their nests well hidden on the ground. Incidentally, the young do not yet have a red breast. In winter, some robins migrate to warmer regions in Europe where there is more food. Birds from northern/northeastern regions also migrate south and end up in the Netherlands. You can help robins in winter with dried mealworms, uncooked oatmeal or a seed mix.
