A photo art perspective of the rooftops of Citta dell Pieve, based on a photograph I took hanging out of the window of a friend's apartment while she held on to my waist to make sure I didn't fall. It was a foggy day but the sun was rising and I loved the differing lines of the roofs and the contrast of light and shade.
The birthplace of the Italian artist Perugino, Citta della Pieve is a comune in the Provincia of Perugia and has a population of about 7,500. The town is high up on a hill and is very popular with tourists not least for their renaissance costume parade in August (Il Palio de la Terzieri) and an Aphrodisiac Festival in September. A popular feature in local dishes is saffron, produced locally and cultivated here since the thirteenth century.
