The Water Tower at De Esch in Rotterdam was built in 1871-1873 to a design by architect C. B. van der Tak and is the oldest remaining water tower in the Netherlands. When the waterworks moved to another location in the late seventies, the tower and a number of halls and basins were integrated in the new residential area that was built on the site. In the tower, a national monument, are now offices and a restaurant.
