About the artwork

Bring a piece of Indonesia's historical beauty into your home with this stunning photo print of the stupas at the Borobudur temple in Java.

The misty setting creates an atmosphere of calm and serenity, with the stupas rising above the forested mountains. Low-hanging clouds add a dramatic touch to the background.

This photo print is a wonderful addition to any wall, and a reminder of Indonesia's magnificent cultural riches.

More about the location:

The Borobudur is a Buddhist sanctuary 40 km northwest of Jogyakarta in the province of Central Java, in the centre of the Indonesian island of Java. Next to the Prambanan and the Kraton in Jogyakarta it is one of the tourist attractions of Central Java.

The name possibly comes from the Sanskrit " Vihara Buddha Ur", this means freely translated " Buddhist temple on the mountain ".
In the morning, Borobudur still serves as a place of worship. A pilgrim walks each floor seven times in a clockwise direction. In the stupas there are statues of Buddha; whoever can touch these statues through the holes in the stupas receives, according to local superstition (not according to Buddhism), eternal happiness.
