This picture was taken near the village of El Golfo in the south-west of the Canary Island of Lanzarote. The village itself has only about 200 inhabitants, but is very crowded thanks to a beautiful natural phenomenon, namely "El Charco Verde", also called "El Charco de los Clicos".
The lake is located behind the mountain that you see here on the left. A picture of this famous natural phenomenon can be found in the album "Canary Islands" in my shop.
From the spot where this photo was taken, you have a great view of the lower rugged black sand beach with rowing boats of the locals. It is also the perfect vantage point for the sunset. In the village you will find several cozy seafood restaurants where you can enjoy a delicious freshly caught fish meal after a visit to the lake.
