During my trip through Denmark, one location I definitely wanted to visit was the Rubjerg knude lighthouse!!!
This was ago in north-west Jutland, near the famous coastal town of Lokken.
It is beautifully situated in the sand dunes, high atop a cliff. Because of its location, it has been moved several times, to prevent it from falling into the sea.
It was a tempestuous day, with changeable weather and a strong force 6 wind. Wonderful conditions for a photographer like me, a bit less so for tourists. The strong wind meant you were permanently sandblasted, if you walked into the dunes as in this picture. Due to the changeable weather, there was frequent rain showers.
At the time of this photo, all that came together, you can see the sand blowing through the image like a curtain. And a heavy rainstorm had just passed over, which can be seen on the right of this image.
It made for a stunning image, with the golden yellow sand dunes in the foreground and the looming clouds in the sky. The famous lighthouse stands prominently as a beacon in the centre of the image, with the sea behind it!!!
