About the artwork

BAKERMAT

In their form, my works are their own story where dimensions of time and space stop. They are the echoes and reverberations of a journey on the way to an eventual home within and with myself. They are images of my Odyssey through an immeasurable labyrinth, on the way to the floor of the house with the many rooms, a construction out of and on the ruins of a life, after the four-year bipolar storm I was caught in calmed down and the dust quietly settled. It was a constant groping and navigating by feel and trust.
The signposts and beacons are always different for everyone: the titles of the layered miniatures are orienting pointers, facing inwards and speaking of a bigger picture where the fragile, puny human has a place outside space and time after all.
The scaffolding is gone and it's time for the Open Day. Herewith the invitation. The works hang firmly in the silence of space and time. The walls of the Open House may come down.
More images and background on the bipolar renovation can be found at my home address www.vertaaldinaquarel.nl, though the watercolours have mostly merged into the floors that came in using the blueprint of a larger picture.
Look around in peace. Bring your own time and other eyes. To see what can, may and wants to be seen.
