Steam tram 26 on departure from Opperdoes station.
The LTM 26 has been preserved. This locomotive served the German company Klöckner & Co in Duisburg until 1949. After several years of standstill, it was in service from 1954 to 1972 at Sachtleben Chemie in Homberg (Duisburg). In 1972, the locomotive was bought by the Tramway Foundation and brought back to the Netherlands. After an overhaul, it was put into service in 1974 with the Museumstoomtram Hoorn - Medemblik as LTM 21. During restoration work in 1996-2000, it was discovered that it was actually LTM 26, after which the locomotive was given back its correct number. Another thorough overhaul took place in 2018-2021, during which some technical and cosmetic improvements were made while respecting its monumental status.
At SHM, the machine bears the name Ir. P.H. Bosboom after Piet Bosboom (1911-1991), who had done a lot for the museum steam tram as a member of the board of the Dutch Railways. In the National Register of Mobile Heritage, the LTM 26 has A status.
