About the artwork

This is a photo of a sailboat during the golden hour and sunset. This landscape photo of a sailboat with a sunset I shot while I was on another sailboat. I took this landscape photo on the Loosdrechtse Plassen during an intense red / orange sunset. I don't know anything about sailboats so I have no idea if this is a falcon or a sloop or another sailboat.

The Loosdrechtse Plassen are a large water sports and nature area between Amsterdam and Utrecht.

The term Loosdrechtse Plassen is the historically created collective name for all lakes in the former municipality of Loosdrecht. Sometimes only the First to the Fifth Plas are referred to as Loosdrechtse Plassen. The Loosdrechtse Plassen form the central part of the Natura 2000 area, which is referred to as the Oostelijke Vechtplassen. This area has been designated as a special protection zone for birds (Birds Directive area) and for plants and other animals (Habitats Directive area) and includes polders and lakes.

The golden hour, also called magic hour[1], is a photography term that indicates the short period after sunrise or before sunset, when there is more indirect sunlight, making the light more red and softer. Because the sun is on the horizon, light travels a longer distance through the atmosphere. As a result, the blue light is scattered more, so that the red light is relatively more present.

The term hour does not mean that this actually takes sixty minutes. The effect is shorter anyway for places closer to the equator, because the sun climbs faster there. In theory, the golden hour over the Arctic Circle can last all day. As a rule of thumb, "the first and last hour of the day" is usually taken.[2] Another definition is the period when the sun is less than six degrees above the horizon.
