Cape Cross, 100 km north of Swakopmund is a reserve for a huge colony of Cape fur seals, not seals!
When we were there in late April 2025, the population was around 80,000. After the birth of pups in November and December, it was estimated to be 200,000!
A huge noise and also a very penetrating stench.
