Almost minimally rendered are these seals resting at low tide on the sandy shore of the Rijnmond (Katwijk aan Zee). In the sky, a species of gull rather rare for the Netherlands, the great mayor (Eismöwe / Goeland bourgmestre); this is a juvenile bird. The seals pictured are also quite young. Resting seals can be seen every year in winter. The plate is composed of four different photos.
