Green roofs are becoming increasingly popular. And rightly so: they are good for water management, biodiversity and heat insulation, and they also look much nicer than traditional roofs with gravel or bitumen.
Sedum, or stonecrop, is a plant often used on green roofs. There are lots of different varieties of sedum, with lots of different colours. The term "green roof" should therefore be taken with a grain of salt.
This work is based on a photo of an overgrown roof where red was the main hue. Twisting six digital copies of that photo and overlaying them transparently created this kaleidoscopic image. Finally, I added a 3d effect, giving the effect of layers of paint that have just solidified.
Sedum Sextet is part of a sedum triptych. The other two works, Sedum Spiral and Sedum Star, can be found elsewhere in this webshop. But they don't necessarily need each other.
